About extracting text from PDFs

Extracting text from a PDF is useful for editing content in another program, searching for information, or feeding text into another tool.

Pixuno reads the PDF's text layer directly in your browser using pdf.js — no document is ever uploaded to a server.

FAQ

Why is the extracted text missing formatting?

Extraction pulls the raw text content in reading order. Layout details like columns, tables and fonts are not preserved — only the text itself.

Why does extraction fail on some PDFs?

If a PDF is a scan or contains only images of text (no embedded text layer), there is no text to extract. This tool does not perform OCR.

Can I copy the text directly?

Yes — use the "Copy" button above the text preview to copy the extracted text to your clipboard, or download it as a .txt file.

Is the extracted text uploaded anywhere?

No. Extraction runs entirely in your browser using pdf.js. Nothing is sent to a server.
