Cookie Policy

What are cookies

Cookies are small text files placed on your device by websites you visit. Similar technologies include browser local storage, which we also cover in this policy since Pixuno uses it directly (see "Necessary storage" below).

Cookies core tools do not need

Pixuno's conversion and editing tools run entirely in your browser and do not require an account, login session, or server-side state. We do not set any cookies or storage for the core functionality of converting, editing or exporting your files — that functionality works identically whether you accept, reject, or never see the choices below.

Necessary storage (always active)

Pixuno stores one item in your browser's local storage, under the key pixuno-consent, to remember the privacy choice you make below (or that you haven't made one yet). This is not a cookie and is not sent to any server — it stays on your device and is read only by Pixuno's own code, to decide whether to activate the categories described below. You can clear it at any time via "Privacy Settings" in the footer, or by clearing your browser's site data.

Analytics cookies/storage

If you accept analytics, Pixuno uses Google Analytics 4 (GA4), loaded via Google Tag Manager (GTM), to understand aggregate usage — such as which tool pages are visited, how often, and coarse actions like starting a conversion or opening the PDF editor — so we can improve the site. This may set first- and third-party cookies and use browser storage associated with Google Analytics. These events never include the contents, names, or metadata of any file you process, or the text or signatures added in the PDF editor — that data never reaches any server in the first place, and the analytics code is written so it has no way to send it even by accident.

Analytics is off by default: our own code checks your stored consent choice before sending any of these events, in addition to Google Consent Mode signals, so nothing is sent until you choose "Accept all" or turn on "Analytics" under "Manage preferences" in the consent banner or Privacy Settings. Turning it off again — including withdrawing consent you previously gave — stops further events immediately.

Advertising cookies

Pixuno does not currently display any ad units, and no advertising cookies are set today, regardless of your choice. The site loads a script from Google AdSense in preparation for future advertising, and includes a separate "Advertising" consent category for when that happens.

Before advertising is actually turned on for visitors in the EEA, UK or Switzerland, Google requires publishers to use a consent management platform (CMP) certified by Google and integrated with the IAB Transparency & Consent Framework (TCF) in order to serve personalized ads — our own consent banner alone does not satisfy that requirement. Our plan is to use Google's own certified CMP (configured through AdSense's "Privacy & messaging" tools) for that purpose, rather than building a custom one. This policy will be updated with the specifics — which ad partners are used and exactly what their cookies do — before any advertising cookies are set.

How consent is implemented

Pixuno uses Google's Consent Mode to communicate your choice to Google Tag Manager, Google Analytics and Google AdSense: analytics and advertising storage both default to denied for every visitor until you make a choice, and are only switched to granted after you accept them — either via "Accept all" or by turning on the relevant category under "Manage preferences". As a second, independent layer, Pixuno's own analytics code also checks your stored consent choice before sending any tracking event, rather than relying only on Google's tools to enforce it. You can review or change your choice at any time using "Privacy Settings" in the footer, which reopens the same preferences shown on your first visit.

Third-party services

This site uses Google Tag Manager and Google Analytics (GA4) as described above, both consent-gated. It also loads a script from Google AdSense's ad-serving domain in preparation for future advertising; this does not currently display ads or set advertising cookies. See our Privacy Policy for how information is handled more broadly.

Managing cookies

Use "Privacy Settings" in the footer at any time to accept, reject, or set granular preferences — this is the same control shown automatically on your first visit. Most browsers also let you view, manage, delete, and block cookies and site storage through their own settings. Because Pixuno's core tools do not depend on cookies, blocking them should not affect your ability to convert or edit files.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time to reflect changes in the cookies and technologies we use — in particular, before enabling any advertising. We will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page when we do.
